No Outlaws Here

We had such a great Labor Day weekend. I've been thinking lately how much I enjoy my in-laws. Over the years I've heard friends tell stories of in-laws that just rub them the wrong way. I really can't relate because I have been blessed to have Duane and Sherrie as the parents of my dear husband. I am thankful they raised Jonathan to be the hardworking, supportive, and dedicated husband and father he is for Madelyn, Joel and me. I am blessed they taught him by example how to love and fear the Lord. They are an inspiration to our marriage and it's refreshing to see how strong their love for each other is at 30+ years of marriage. They are very supportive of us and how we raise our children and share advise without being intrusive in the least bit. I love that I am treated like one of their own, and for all these things I am grateful.

Over the summer Sherrie and Duane built a large pond in Sherrie's prayer garden and have been filling it with a few fish. Sherrie and Madelyn bought a few to release while we were there. We all had fun hanging around the pond. Duane has a rotten bone in him, and he recruited Madelyn in one of his little schemes while Sherrie was away.

Joel got to meet all of his great grandparents while we were down. Papa C is going to be 90 this year and Jonathan was thrilled to introduce Joel to him.

Carrying on the family name - four generations.

Great Grandpa and Grandma Lewis hugging on the kids Monday morning before we had to head home.

We went over to my grandparent's house Sunday for lunch and swimming. My Aunt Cindy and her family made enchiladas, rice and beans and my cousin, Fernando, and his wife, Roberta, and kids were their also. We had a really good visit with everyone.

Great Grandpa Phillips blowing raspberries on Joel's tummy. It's so special seeing interaction between great grandparents and their great grandchildren.

  1. You "have" been blessed with great in-laws! There is just one correction to your comments, I think that Duane might have more than one rotten bone in his body!?! Just a thought! :)
